    Help ID'ing fuel tank/fuel cock

Bought (what was labeled as) an '81 GS550 petcock for my '80 GS550 - the fuel cock is slightly too long and about a mm thinner than the tank opening. The thread pattern is also closer together than the threads on the tank (so I can't attached the fuel cock even if I squeeze it in) so I'm now wondering if my tank is truly an '80 tank. Any more experienced members have any insight? Before I buy another fuel cock I want to make sure I'm buying the correct part for my tank

    Thank you!

What is the center to center distance for both the tank and petcock.

BTW, buying a dirty old petcock is almost as bad as recycling condoms.

Tank: Center to center of the threads is 2" (50mm)

Petcock: Center to center of threads is 1.75" (44mm)

I know I know but this was $14 shipped so I couldn't pass it up (which would explain the occasional itch)

Does anyone know a non vacuum universal petcock with 50mm c/c flange? I'm really trying to avoid paying for the $80 OEM part...

Your 1980 gs550 likely came stock with the infamous 1980 leverless petcock. Unless you are real ambitious, just get a replacement like this guy sells for $50 and learn to cope with its oddities
