    Mikuni VM Carb Interchange?

A friend of mine asked me to take a look at his '77 Yamaha RD400. While it's a nice looking bike, it stalls at idle frequently.

My question for y'all: Mr. Barr sells a nice kit of o-rings for the Mikuni VM carbs. Is there any reason to think his kit would work for the Yamaha installation?

I'm sure reed valves and two stroke make for a host of different jetting configurations. However, It seems possible that the other parts may work.

I already checked with Robert, unfortunately, he has never played with the Yamaha carb.

Does anyone have any experience to share?

    Thanks, Alan

It would be a 76 actually. Wasnt built in 77. Anyway, heres the parts fiches. You may get parts faster by copy and pasting part numbers in the Ebay search box.

The RD400 was built from '76-'79

There were very few O-rings for those carbs. I'd take them apart and then take inventory of what you need.

Shows it on the 78 model year though. Maybe i made my assumption based on it not being listed for 77...which may be an error on Partsfish.
