    dipped carbs and discoloration

I tore into my carbs last week to give them a good cleaning. I use gunk carb medic which seems to have worked in the past. I left the carb bodies and bowls in for a couple of days and when I pulled them out they were covered in a dark film. anyone have this issue with carb dip? soap and water isnt removing the dip as well either... time for a new gallon?

Berrymans will do the same. Its a how long you leave them in issue and nothing to do with the sauce. Use a dremel and various small wire wheels to clean the crud off them.

Bunch of carb spay and lots of compressed air should flush the passages good enough.

Thanks, thats what I thought. Sounds like I need to top off the kerosene heater and head out to the garage, that is if it doesnt snow again.. Dam New England weather. less than a month ago it was 70...

I get the multipack of dremel wheels from Harbor Freight. Has some conical ones in there that get into the corner pretty decently. I use a little carb spray and wheel away. Final rinse with a good shot of spray and dry with the air hose. They come out pretty good.

              Wire is what you want.

Not only does the dip make the aluminum bodies dark, it also eats off the zinc plating on any hardware pieces that are in the sauce.
