    VM22SS carb gasket/hose question

I just pulled and rebuilt my vm22ss carbs off my 78’ GS550. I made sure that I was organized and labeled everything for easy assembly. However, now that I have it together, I’m question 2 things.

    PLEASE SEE PHOTO FIRST
-Am I missing a black rubber piece between carb #2 and #3?.
-The hose between carb #2 and #3 goes to vacuum port of petcock, while the hoses between #1 & #2 and #3 & #4 are overflow hoses, correct?

    Thanks!

Nothing between 2 and 3 as far as the short black connector. The big TEE between 2 and 3 goes to the fuel petcock. The vacuum for the petcock is the brass nipple on the left side of carb 3. The brass nipples on 2 and 4 are vents for the bowls. These get a piece of vac line and get run over the left and right top side of the stock airbox..then down between the rear of the engine and swing arm.

Bottom nipples on the bowls are overflow tubes. They run under the airbox and down between the engine and swingarm with the vent lines. Cut everything off 1 inch below the oil pan.

the two brass nipples you have circled are vents. The nipple with the vac line goes to the petcock.

        Great! Thanks Chuck!
Sorry, I meant vent ports, not overflow. But I'm relieved to know I assembled it correctly. Thanks for letting me know where to place the hoses!

The hoses are not always long enough to go all the way down below the engine. I usually route them into relatively calm air. On my 850s, there is a small bracket behind the right side of the airbox that you can slide both vent hoses through, so they end behind the airbox. Other bikes have a similar bracket on top of the air box under the seat. I believe your 550 is one of those bikes.
