    GS 1100 backfiring

Got a problem with backfiring or pop pop between shifts and backing off throttle. Could this be carb adjustment?

Have you checked the valve clearances lately? If it's backfiring then that's were you want to look first.

You managed to sorta improve things by poking out the pilot jets, but it's likely other residue got pulled deeper into the pilot circuits' passages. Proper carb cleaning - dip or good ultrasonic, new carb o-rings - is on your to do list.

I've also seen this issue due to an exhaust leak.

Exhaust leaks, almost always. Get it sealed up before getting stuff out of sorts with jettings & such.

richen the fuel mixture a little. it is a lean misfire 98% of the time.
