    cracked overflow float bowl pipe

So I thought I had my float height adjusted wrong, because I kept leaking fuel from the bowl. Turns out, my overflow pipe has a hairline crack in it that’s making it leak fuel.

Does anyone one know if this piece can be pulled out and replaced? A friend suggested using PC7 epoxy to seal the crack. If all else fails, I can just buy a new-used float bowl.

i have replaced many of these overflow tubes. simply heat up the bowl and grab the tube with vice grips, twist an pull. you can buy brass tube the same diameter, id and od. cut to size, warm up the bowl again and push in. no need for any glue or sealant to hold it in place

If you can't find the right size tube, or you're just tight like me, you can solder the crack. If you do, make sure you don't block the tube with solder.

I had cracked tubes in a number of Keihin carbs. Solder works, sometimes. Replacing the tube is a better fix though. I couldn't find the proper size tubing in the US but was able to make due with inch size tubes instead, just had to flare the diameter a little using a tapered pin on the portion that fits into the carb body.

I used to get this problem on old Hondas all the time. What in heck causes those tubes to crack?
