New intake rubber clamp, rubber not sealing?

    Hi.

    Have a GS1000 1979.

Installed new OEM rubbers and OEM clamps from Cmsnl.com.

2 rubbers are leaking (tested with starter gas).

Q: How tight should the clamps be, these where possible to go all the way to the bottom off the clamp.
Is there a nother trick to get them sealed?

Wonder if Suzuki superseded the clamp part number with something that's too big? I had that problem with my 1980 GS1000S. Wound up having to order clamps from another year bike before getting the right size. I wonder if your bike is similar?

Ye I was thinking the same but Cmsnl hav always been a reliable source off OEM parts here in europe.

But i asked around on a FB group with a lot off knowledge and an old shark told me I was overtightening the clamps(Should be near where they come of according to him).

The question is how hard should I tighten them, it goes to the bottom quite easy.

I´m going to try and add some vulcanaizing tape on the rubbers to get some more tourque.

If the clamps have the self threading type of screw they are the superceeded parts that Suzuki sells, and they do not seal very well if at all.

You want the ones with the fine machine thread.

As Ed suggested when I had issues I tried the ones from the GS1000L from 1979, they were the ones I got and worked well.

        Good luck.
