    Identifying Mikuni Carb Model

    Dear all,

I am rebuilding my GS850 and since I have had to replace the original exhaust with a 4 in 1, and might be fitting pod-filters (yes... I know ) due to an airbox looking like swiss cheese, I need to know what the carb model I have.

    They look like this:

.. and according to my manuals they are the original for my GS850 GN from '79.

However, my Haynes manual states that this is Mikuni VM26SS carbs, but if I Google Mikuni VM26SS, I only get images of a more roundish carb with a black spike on top.

Can anyone solve this mystery, and disclose the model of my carbs?

    Thank you in advance.

They are indeed VM26SS carbs - standard for the '79 850.

Click scroll down to the carb specs and find your bike.

I think the google images are for the single and dual carb setup. The bell style top is 4 carb setup with linkage.
