    Fuel cap

How does the fuel cap vent and cam they be tested?

    #2
They can be cleaned. Remove the two screws to the black plastic latch cover. You will find two more screws on a little plastic tower with a hole in it. under that there is a brass plate with a hole in it and a plastic disk under it with a hole in it covering the hole that vents under the Chrome top of the cap. It's a vented baffle system so fuel doesn't splash to the top of the cap. I believe there might be a small ball bearing in the little tower. The cap I looked at didn't have one but the cap on my bike makes a small rattling sound when shaken and I seem to remember one. At any rate as long as everything is clear and not gummed up it will vent.
