    Stripped jets

I started pulling apart the carbs on the 79 GS550L and every jet is stripped in every carb. Was wondering if anybody knows how to get them out ? I also looked for new / rebuilt carbs on ebay with no luck. Does anybody know where to get replacement carbs for this bike ?

I'd start with a left-handed drill bit, sometimes that will just spin them out. If it doesn't, then move on (carefully!!) to EZ-Outs.

I have a set of precision torx screw drivers which I use.

These are very good quality and work well but you can also find lower cost kits that are $12-$15 that should work as well.

First, heat up the area around the stuck jet, then tap or press the torx bit into the opening hole, carefully remove stuck jet.

This method has worked for me many times, but you only get one or two shots at this method before the jet gets too damaged to get out.

      Good luck.

Edit.... I just checked my set and I've used sizes T4 - T7, depending on the jet.
