VM Carb choke tube broken...Can it be fixed?

One of the choke tubes on my 1978 GS750 carbs broke during disassembly. Can it be soldered back or do I have to replace the carb body? It is broken off right where it connects to the carb body. Is there a preferred method to repair this?

When I die, just cremate me and put me in my GS tank. That way I can go through these carbs, one more time!

It can be fixed. Some do it with JB weld and it holds up to gasoline quite well, not sure on how many years though. There are some mechanical fixes as well, I'm sure someone will chime in with a link to the threads on it. The carb bodies are hard to come by at all though and that would be a 100% fixed method.

Pick the rest of the tube out of the body with a pointy pick. Note it broke where the bleed holes are at. Get a piece of brass tube from Hobby Lobby or other hobby place and make a new one. And actually if its a little shorter than the rest it will still work if you reinsert the rest of whats left. Long as the end gets to gas in the port from the bowl its all good. And i would suspect that 3 out of 4 will suffice anyway as far as starting the bike goes.

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

I followed this tutorial to replace a bunch of cracked tubes in Keihin carbs for KZ bikes...https://cx500forum.com/forum/general...placement.html

Used the dimple in the side of a threading die to roll over the end. For the choke tube you need to drill a small cross hole near where the tube plugs into the float bowl. Overall, it's quite a simple process.
