Have you found the CArb Cleaning Series tutorial...? Look back on the homepage (of TheGSR website, not the forum).
About the only specail thing-tool you need is a bucket of the carb dip solvent (it comes with a basket-strainer thing).
If you are still wanting to send them out:
In the "services" area of the forum there are some guys listed that do just that. "Steve" in Dayton Ohio comes to mind.
Although they may tell you that you probably dont need the carb kit, just a set of orings will usally do.http://webpages.charter.net/ddvrnr/GS850_1100_Emblems.jpg

I'd look at the carb tutorial and have a go at it....skip the rebuild kits and just get new o-rings from cycleorings.com. The challenge is in properly/ carefully removing the jets and mixture screws. Might be able to find a guy in your area with a decent ultrasonic cleaning tank to spare you playing chemist.1981 gs650L

If you can, return the carb kits and get your money back. The kits are all shoddy fake garbage and a complete waste of money, time, and angst.
You'll need an o-ring kit ( http://www.cycleorings.com/ ) and maybe bowl gaskets. Make sure you replace the intake boots and o-rings as well, if that hasn't already been done. You'll also need to replace the boots between the airbox and carbs, and make sure the air filter and airbox are sealed correctly and the snorkel is in place on the back of the airbox.
As mentioned above, I know "Steve" is one forum member who has rebuilt carbs for people, so you might want to PM him.
But it ain't rocket surgery, and the step-by-step has gotten a lot of people through the process without problems.1983 GS850G, Cosmos Blue.

Steve or Chef (Bill) are the two go-to guys for rebuilding carbs. You might want to look through the carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature first though. It's got more detail than the tutorial on the home page but you would do well to read through both.Ed

To add my penny's worth. First time I stripped and cleaned a set of carbs......it was done 'blind'. All the info I had was do one carb at a time and be gentle. I have since stripped, cleaned, re-assembled, forgot something, stripped, cleaned again, swore a few times (repeat until fade)
As long as you don't try to force anything to move if it doesn't want to without inspecting / heating / lubricating and don't overtighten anything you should be ok. the sense of achievement if it all works afterwards is worth the clenching.1978 GS750(E) I think

Cleaning the carbs is actually dead easy. You almost can't mess it up UNLESS you hamfist stuck screws and strip out the heads, or don't follow the procedure and bust off a float post. Grind two screwdrivers to assure a tight fit into both the pilot screws and pilot jets and don't force anything. If you get stuck and don't know where something goes just post up some photos here and someone will tell you what to do.Ed

No sealant. Just get new boots and O-rings, and new screws if your old ones are buggered.Ed

Yes, same for the petcock. No sealer. Be sure to get a new oval petcock O-ring and new sealing washers for the petcock screws. The sealing washers are special with a metal outer and rubber inner surfaces.Ed
