78 GS550. Drip drip drippy petcock?

I have a 78 GS550. Petcock was leaking when I got it. The guy before me painted it. I stripped the paint. Took it all apart, cleaned it and put it all back together. That worked for a while but now it's leaking again. Nothing massive but dripping. Where can I get either a new petcock or a decent rebuild kit. Ive looked on eBay. But can only seen to find petcocks for 82 and up.. Are they more less the same between years? Will an 82 Vaccumm peacock work on a 78 tank? Or anyone got a link?

Edit. Just saw the thread below regarding the GS850 with same issue. Question is will an 81 petcock fit my 78 tank?

    No
The bolt spacing is different on the 82 petcock.
I'd try replacing the disc and the O ring, available from your Suzuki dealer

That's parts 2 and 3 on the parts fiche

The consensus on the board seems to be the best thing to do is get a replacement petcock as opposed to rebuilding. Reviews on the cheap ones on ebay aren't very good among this community and the best bet is to get your new one from https://www.z1enterprises.com/ that's where I ordered mine. As to fitment, the Z1 site lets you enter your model info an chooses the one you need, you can also cross reference the part number from the microfishe, I usually go to www.babbitts.com for that sort of thing.
