My old GS1000 would not idle normally without the filter or lid. The idle was higher.

It runs , but not well. I started it this morning, just for less than a minute. Felt the exh pipes. # 4 is COLD. #4 has compression, and a good hot spark. That leaves FUEL. Any advice on what to look for here?

Let it run longer... I’m pretty sure mine doesn’t run on all four for about 30 seconds.....but after a minute or so ,all pipes are gettin toasty. If no improvement after 3 minutes, suspect that your #4 idle circuit is likely blocked. Can you ride this on road and find some long downhills? Going down a downhill and opening/ closing throttle puts a lot of vacuum on the idle circuits - you might get lucky
