Vac petcock to manual

Hey folks. I would like to replace the vac petcock on my GS750, 1984, with a manual one. The one on mind needs to be replaced and I'd prefer a manual one. Does anyone know of one that will fit. I believe the distance between the mounting bolts is 38 mm.

Hey Steve thanks. Mine is leaking petro when it's in the ON or RES position with no van applied. I did take it apart and the O ring did have a little piece of dirt on it so I cleaned it up and put to back together. Same result. On prime it flows proper and flows proper with vac applied. But as mentioned with no vac petro still trickles out in ON and Reserve. Also I made an error with the measurement. It's actually 44 mm bolt to bolt. Again, thank you

Well, let's start with the year for your bike. I did not see any reference to an '84 750 in the parts catalog.
However, I did find an '83. The part number for the petcock is 44300-45471, the cost is $76.54 at Parts Outlaw.

i live 15 minutes from pingel. They all ride and from what Ive seen make everything in house in central Wisconsin.

They predominatley make drag bike stuff - high quality.

Not it sure it’s justified on a 40 year old daily rider.

Ivegot a pingel fuel filter on my VL1500 and my Cavalcade will get one as well.

I've used Pingels for many years, on both a drag bike and street bikes. Here is what I know.

First off, I like them. The work well and look good.
However, I have yet to have one last more than 10 years before it started leaking. (Maybe others have better luck)
Supposedly, they are rebuildable, but they don't sell a kit that I know of. (I could be wrong)
My understanding is you can send them back to the factory for a rebuild, but I don't know if there is a cost associated with this.
Eventually you will leave it on, we all do. If you are lucky, it will only leak gas all over the floor. Or, it could fill the crankcase.

The OEM will work, and last far longer.

Your choice...

Another alternative is to convert your stock petcock to manual. A fairly recent topic detailed the mod.


Pingel sells an inline vacuum valve. Combining that with a manual petcock give you the advantages of both but eliminates prime.

Here's your best option, having to change your oil in the middle of a road trip because you forgot to turn the petcock off is a major hassle, you don't need to ask me how I know this!

Thanks guys. A new oem vac type is $100 Canadian. That's not bad so I ordered one. Thanks for your replies. Appreciate them.
