It's always hard to tell how any bike 'sounds' via a video. Your pipes don't look good, if you're doing your carbs properly you might want to check your valve clearances while you're at it. You're going to need to re-balance your carbs anyways from the rebuild might as well do a thorough job and do that valves too.Rob

If your carbs need cleaning, nothing that can be added to gas will clean it. These bikes are approaching 40 years old, and need some love in certain area's. Your pipes dont look good , very blue. Blue is heat and that says lean . Your throttle response off idle sounds lean also . Yes, what everyone is telling you ...pull carbs and do it the right way. Nice bike, I have the black '81 GS1100EX . I believe the blue model was the rare one, have only seen a hand full of them in all these years . I've had Seafoam do a 'Good enough" job for me in the past, I guess it's a matter of what "good enough" is for you. Tearing your carbs down is a big deal for a lot of folks and if good enough is good enough for you then you always have the option to do more later. Valves are a completely different matter, if you put that job off too long you might just end up with a pretty boat anchor with fancy wheels under it without putting substantial time and money into making it right again.1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)

The additives are okay for preventative maintenance every so often, preventing varnish buildup etc. But once a carb is gunky enough to effect performance, Seafoam nor any other additive is going to do anything at that point. Time to tear them down and do it properly.
