Tank differences?

    I can confirm. An '81 850G tank does infact fit on a '76 750. Here are some pictures comparing the tanks and a few of the tanks on the 750.

    Left shiny tank is the '81 850, dull ugly one is the 750 tank. You can see the 850 tank is taller, wider, and a little more "square."





    Here's the 850 tank on the 750 frame.






    And lastly, here's a picture of the 750 with 750 tank for comparison.



    After putting the 850 tank on the 750, I think I like the look better. Not to mention the extra gallon of fuel would be nice for range. The guy I was trying to buy 750 parts from has been difficult to coordinate with so I may give up on him and start looking for an 850 tank. I really like the center fuel cap on the 750 tank better than the offset cap like the 850 has. Does anyone know what years/models came with center caps and which ones came with the offset cap?
