trust a $16 petcock on a $1000 paint job. Do the Pental vacuum petcock work 100% of the time? Or does anyone else know of a vacuum petcock with an off switch? All the vacuum petcocks that I have seen are RES/ON/PRI. So if the petcock leaks there is no shutoff.

Anyone know of a high quality vacuum petcock?
I had a bad petcock. Fuel came out of the vacuum line. No big deal. Replaced the petcock with https://www.amazon.com/Petcock-Assem.../dp/B01N6RD8BA. Now that one wants to shut off every other time. And went it does not. Fuel comes out the carb over flow tubes. I want to paint the bike. But, I do not

The OEM Suzuki petcocks are fine. The don't have an OFF position but it doesn't matter. Check Parts Outlaw for a good price.Ed

The one I bought for about $50 from Z1 is treating me well, seems to have good reviews from the other folks on here: https://www.z1enterprises.com/1980 Yamaha XS1100G (Current bike)

I've bought two petcocks from Georgefix on Ebay.... And compared them in detail with the originals... They appear to be identical so I suspect he uses whoever is supplying Suzuki... If he has the model you are looking for he is cheaper.......Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill every time1983 GS 750

I bought a George petcock that looked identical to the OEM...only it failed right away. It was the leverless version with the check valve in the back cover (check valve didn't work).Ed

Personally, when the time comes to replace mine, I think I will go with the Pingle. Can't see 300 big ones for an OEM.Larry

Not sure what the difference is, but if the one for the 1100E will work, then I had better buy one.
I based my assumption on the fact that in post #3 he mentions $300 for OEM.Last edited by alke46; 07-24-2019, 09:43 AM.Larry

That is correct. I have a 1979 GS1000EN. The spacing between the mounting holes is 44mm. In 1980, I think they when to 34 mm. In any event, my $16 petcock that is an OEM replacement is still leaking. I checked the carbs and it was #2 that was leaking. So, pulled the carb and compared #1 and #2 (#1 was not leaking so I was using it for reference). Looked at the float height, needle and etc.... All looked good. Put it back together and it did not leak! Filled the gas tank to the top and put it on PRI and #1 started leaking!!!!! WTF. So, I might have switched one part in number one and to number two. Next I am going to put parts in #1 (float, needle and etc...) in number two and see if the leak moves back to #2. But, during the troubleshooting I installed a manual shut off in the fuel line. I am glad I did. I shut it off and I am going to work on it next weekend. Fixing this should not be this hard. Even when I get the new petcock, I think I will keep the shut off valve in place.
This is my first classic bike. I knew what I signed up for. It is a challenge.

Just got my Suzuki OEM petcock. I took it apart. The guts are different from the $16 one. For example, the rubber washer on the end of the stem that plugs the hole when the bike is off. Completely different. The plastic stem tower that did not have a hole in the $16 one; has a hole in the Suzuki OEM one. The outside of both petcocks look the same. I will update the thread once it is installed. They do not make Suzuki OEM petcock anymore. But, hopefully Suzuki makes a rebuild kit for it with OEM parts.
