Bleed vs Non bleed pilot jets

I’ve heard it doesn’t matter and I’ve heard it does. From the gs1100 service manual.... it would seem it shouldn’t matter since the air is mixed with the fuel after the pilot jet..... but I could be missing something.
I’m running gs1150 carbs at the moment with 47.5 non air bleed type jets in what I think are Canadian spec carbs since they had adjustable needles. That’s what came in them, but I have the same size bleed type if it actually makes a difference.
I’ve put about 700 miles on the 1150 carbs with nice performance results, but my fuel mileage is only around 33 mpg; and the plugs fouled last time I rode it for about an hour in heavy traffic.

Agreed.....anyone know what type came in 1150 carbs?

I just had to do a quick search to even find out what bleed vs. non bleed meant.

I can check on mine (85 1150) tonight if you dont get an answer before then. Pods = easy access.....

I think the 1150 used non bleed type.

so that’s not why my plugs fouled.... probably still the original jets. I did have the screws set out 3 turns for some dumb reason, I think deceleration popping.... factory spec is two.
