    Vacuum Tube Replacements for VM Carbs - 78 GS750

    I'm hoping to replace some of the crunchy, dried out vacuum lines the PO put on my 1978 GS750E but can't really figure out what might be a good "universal fit" vacuum tube. It seems like 4mm ID might be my best bet, but I figured I'd ask on here to see what kind of luck folks have had with buying a one-size-fits-all bulk roll of vacuum tube. If this is unrealistic or ill-advised please let me know! I'm not sure if the tubing diameter is used to intentionally meter flow or anything like that.

    pretty sure there is no "metering", just on/off. Anything that fits on there without kinking in the routing should work.

      There is only one vacuum line from the carbs to the petcock. This "tube" attaches to carb #3.

        Oh! So then the rest are all just drain tubes if the bowls overfill? I didn't realize that the petcock was the only part that required a vacuum line. I guess that makes sense since there aren't really any complex emissions systems on these bikes...

          Are you referring to the hoses between the carbs or the hoses coming from the bottom of the bowls? The hoses between the carbs are vents, except #3 which is the vacuum line. The hoses on the bowls are overflow hoses.

            Clearly I know SO much about carbs... That explains it, thanks!

            So then the only other consideration would really be for the vent hoses and making sure that they are in still air for an atmospheric reference, right? I think I read that in another thread to basically avoid a venturi effect from dangling in the wind? Thanks again!
