    VM26SS main jet question.

Maybe there are a lot of threads about it but I cant find it. Recently bought gs1000e 1979. Was not running because of plugged carburetors, upon disassembly found that I was not the first one there and lots of moisture and rust did job and even after cleaning was unable to adjust it - something damaged something enlarged.
WAs thinking of completely rebuilding it but accidentally found very good looking carburetor for my motorcycle. Outside it is exactly the same and very clean looking inside. all screws and adjustments looked like never touched, still yellow paint on them. But as I know it should be 15 pilot jet and 95 main jet inside for GS1000e 1979.

I looked closely and found that main jet is 110 and pilot 15 looks clean, no screwdriver signs on it.

Have a question - what that carburetor is come from and how my motorcycle will run on it. I plan to install 4 into 1 exhaut but keep stock airbox. is 110 will be to much difference than stock 95?

I was thinking bigger jet is better. I have seen about people recommending bigger jets. So I was thinking to try those first?

95 jets from old carburetor too rusty, dont think they are reusable.

Stock jets are brass, they don't "rust". Yes, they will get dirty, but can be brushed clean. The important part is the little hole in the middle, not how bright and shiny they are.

Depending on how loud your 4-into-1 header/muffler is, you might be OK with stock jets. It <might> be good to go to a 97.5 just because today's fuels aren't quite the same, so a little more of it won't hurt. At worst, with a louder muffler (less restriction = more noise), you might need a 100 jet, but the 110 is going to be too much.

Thanks. Will tear down both and assemble one.

Are those jets were factory ones for some reason?
