1981 GS1100 missing aluminum plug carb

I have a 1981 GS1100E I'm working on. After no success last year getting bike started I just pulled the carbs to clean, new O rings etc. On number 2 carb, from the under the bowl gasket opposite the needle end there is a back washer/ring that fits under the gasket and sits on a plug. Well number 2 carb there is no plug just a open hole. Maybe it fell out on last cleaning and I lost it ? Is this normal ? If not I can't find it in the poor OEM crab diagrams. Any help appreciated.

OK, I see that I need it. Anyone have an old B34SS body laying around. Will pay

Are you talking about the rubber plug that goes over the pilot jet? If so, Z-1 sells them.

No, it fills the hole where the black ring sets under the carb gasket. You wont notice it until you loose it like me last year. Hate to look and buy a body even if I find one for that dang plug.

I've cut apart carb bodies just for those plugs before. They are tapered but sometimes fall out.
I think I've got a scrap BS32 body but let me check. Gotta figure out if the plug is the same too. Stay tuned...

Anybody have a picture of this “plug” , a picture of where it goes, and what it does?

Check page 50 of the carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature.

The plug blocks a passage that allows machining (drilling holes) in the carb body during manufacturing.

Thanks Ed. Does that need a gasket (13258-44080) in addition to the float bowl gasket to keep it from causing an air leak?

There is supposed to be a flat O-ring like seal over the plug which the gasket sits on top of.

Carbs.jpgHere are my carbs out of a 81 550. I noticed while cleaning that 3 outa 4 are missing. Im guessing I need 3 plugs to put back in. Anyone know where these can be found? I found a site that might have something I might be able to use im gonna confirm size when I get home and from what Ive read I need so o rings also in there. Thank you for any help. Unfortunately carbs have been taken apart by prior owners.

A good idea while you have the carbs off is to replace the intake o-rings as well.

Don't know if he carries the plugs or not.

                        Welcome to the site.

The only place to get those plugs is by cutting apart a set of carbs. Or cutting some with a lathe.
