DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS650G vs GS650L Exhaust Fit

Anyone know if a set of exhaust from an 82 GS650L will fit an 82 GS650G?

Cant speak to the '82 specifically, but I received a set of L pipes when they were advertised as G, and they did not work on my '83. The mounts were in slightly different places.

I’d imagine they’re shorter? Could a bracket modification fix the problem do you think?

I briefly toyed with the idea, but couldn't come up with a suitable solution from the bits 'n bobs in my garage, but yes, you could probably work something out.

Are you still in the LM, or did you complete the move? I still have those pipes I got. They are currently sitting outside my garage hoping the salvagers will take them away. They are dead to me...

Thanks for asking on the move. Yes we are now officially ex-lower mainlanders living in Kamloops. 22 years was long enough. It's been a lllllllong week, three days packing with the movers, one day on the road and two days unpacking with the movers again. GREAT GUYS from United Vanlines Beckens movers! Really made the move enjoyable! Our driver was there top employee last year for Canada. Threaded the needle about five times pulling his 53' trailer and cab in to our new subdivision that has a ton of twists and turns.

I am heading to Pitt Meadows on Wed to pick up a parts bike. GS650L which I hope to use the pipes on my GS650G project. What kind of shape are your L pipes in?

Looking a little worse for wear as they have been sitting apart. I forgot they were Chinese knockoffs, and the silencers are seaparate pieces from the header. I had them apart trying to solve a leak at the same time as I was trying to fit them to the G.

Our official out of the house date is tomorrow, and I'm not planning on taking them with me as I'm running out of space in storage, and have no place to work on the motorcycles.

You're probably just as well off sticking with the parts bike. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to make something work.

22 years? I've been on the coast for 26 now. Hard to believe how fast the time flies by. No chance of us getting out of here anytime soon as we just bought a new to us place.

Congratulations on moving away. Some would see that as more than a small victory the way the lower mainland is going.

Hey good luck on the move! Thanks for the info on the pipes. I can't loose on this parts bike as I'll pull the engine and all the other bits and bobs for future builds. LMD was good for the 22 years we were there but I am happy to be I in a quiter part of the province where there are great roads to ride!
