      Both my GS1000 have VM carbs, one is vm28 other vm26. Both have the same tap with pri on res lever.

          It is possible to use the other petcock on your tank, just oval the mounting holes in the petcock.

          For a standard bike that would create clearance issues with the airbox but since you have pods it's no problem.

              correct. The other petcock has them at 44 mm.

                My other gs1000 has a later gsx1100 tank with 50mm tap mount. I slotted the holes on an early type tap, very carefully not to go too far.

                So it can be done.
