Rebuilding the carbs on 1983 GS1100ED. So in reading the shop manual, there is a picture of a small o-ring that fits between the bowl and the bowl gasket. In fact, the shop manual calls out being very careful to make sure its aligned when reassembling. During my disassembly, i found that none of my 4 carbs had this o-ring installed. The rebuild kit that i got of Amazon contained a small o-ring that fit in that location so i was careful to align it and get is seated when i reconnected the bowl. However, on one of the bowls, i had to remove it after i had everything reattached. Of course, i forgot about this small o-ring and lost it during this removal. So, im now short one o-ring. I thought i would just order one off of Partszilla. However, in looking at the parts diagram, this small o-ring is not shown. So, questions:
1) What is this o-ring used for? It appears to be giving space for a very, very tiny orifice.
2) Since the carb did not have it installed previously, is it actually needed? Seems like the gasket covering the opening would do the same thing.
3) If i do need it, can someone point it out on the parts diagram? Can you just tell me the number on the diagram so i can order a new one?
Best Regards,
Darrell
