    Ugh !!!

So, after sitting for the winter with Stabil in the carbs I decided to put Hi Ho Silver back on the lift to syncronize the carbs. Welp it only runs on the choke and if you hit the the throttle it immediately dies. The previous owner overhauled the carbs but I never verified that the passages and jets were clear. And the carbs sat dry for while.
Sooooo, it looks like I'm pulling the carbs again. Whoo hoo ! right now I'm using Magical Thinking in the hopes that it fixes itself. Any advice welcome.

It's vitally important to get the Woo right by turning at the right rate, then doing a figure eight with both thumbs in the prescribed manner, before turning around and repeating the process with a barely audible Hoo.

Just wondering, is this bike new to you, or had you, or anyone ridden it before it sat for the winter?

I got it as basically a basket case last year. The previous owner had the carbs off and cam tensioner out. Turned the engine with a wrench and the cams jumped teeth. That's when he gave up. I retimed the cams and it now runs. I pulled the carbs today and took one apart. Old stock main jets, looks like new stock size pilot jet. Float height correct. Passages seem clear. I haven't verified the slides work yet. The plugs look rich but it's acting like its getting no fuel at idle and will not take throttle at all. Starts and runs on choke. Ill get into the other 3 carbs next week.
It has the stock air box and filter. Has a 4 into 1 pipe.

Can someone verify if I have the correct pilot jets ? Mine are the ones with NO holes in the sides. I know there are 2 other types with 6 & 8 holes.

If your carbs were a basket case, were the little "rubber plugs" in behind the pilot jets, they need to be there. I'm thinking the later model GS's came with the pilots with the holes, not sure if it matters.

Yes it has the rubber plugs. Still need information on whether the pilot jets should have holes in the sides or not.
