    Length: 103 mm
    Height: 28 mm
Fixation holes center to center: 80 mm

    My GS:
    95MM×70MM
    fixation holes 68mm centers
(seems common for 80's suzukis ?)

    MY GSX250E:
    80mm × 46mm
    Fixation holes centers 68mm

So not ideal. This is where " this is how I did it " comes useful. The GSX may not have room at all. The GS might but will need new holes drilled at the very least.
Does the new unit fit in the space of the old one? Holes being different can be dealt with by affixing a metal plate to original mount. You would then affix new unit to the plate.
Onbly works if you have roo though.

My whiz bang compufire is aas big as Kansas cornfield and is strapped in with zip ties.

      Update on GSX

      - all bullet connections on GS and GSX all with correct shielding (actually got it right and don't need elec tape)
      - So can interchange GS - RR

      Tested GS reg on GSX.

      - Better but as I had been away and left a petrol tap on that leaks petrol had got into crank case. I didn't know this until too late.

So started, went a mile but then started to behave very odd almost similar as before but I am convinced this is due to the petrol in Crank.

I am sure I had this before and bike misfires.
      so:

      - drained oil

      - petrol tap useless. Even the new one I bought for it which was fine until I stripped it and out back together now leaks. As I know you cannot mend a petrol tap. Never been able too.

      So

      - New oil needed
      - New petrol tap (as this never happened with a good petrol tap)
      - New Regulator but a massive location problem as no room.

So the expense just keeps adding up.

I am almost done with the GSX. So much time and I am still not 100% sure of issue but have an idea.

I did test with mm , and it gave it a good 13.8 v at increased revs. Not the mad 15 with the original.

        - holes same size yes as per my description.

the gsx is never gone have the mega RR.
it will have the GS one at best. I need to sort the petrol tap out ..... yet another new one and add oil to even test again .

this is a slow burner this one that is so damned annoying

          Update:
          Oil filter ordered

Petrol tap fixed. I forgot to put the spring on the vacuum seal side hence my new non stock one free flowing petrol.

(I stripped this as originally I thought this bogging down issue was petrol related)

Will test again with GS Regulator now other issues sorted.

Yep, those things are pretty simple & easily repaired valves. But without "ALL" the parts & pieces they won't work very well at all...Glad you got that part solved.

In my experience it's usually the other way with petcock (fuel tap). Junk gets inside & holds it open....

                Update:
GSX250E- Jigging igniter about on the metal plate I managed to get GS Regulator on it moving a few wires about.

                q) would the knackered regulator that put out 15plus volts ruin a battery ? I am convinced this bike eats battery's with that Regulator and ate my GS one.

                Anyway testing with knackered RR
                15 PLUS volts
with GS one (now on bike ) steady at 13.5 - 13.8v.

Road test - no bogging down.
Let's do some miles before we are sure.

                GS550E:
I found an old RR that I can't recall why I changed it.
A shindengen sh232-12 with sense wire.
So new connections on that, gsx suspect battery as never gets fully charge light on my chargers but might behave with a good RR.
RR Test a steady 14.5v at high revs no more.

                No road test on GS.

Will update and still not bought the series reg.

                    Binned.

                    Testing on GSX continues today.
spec - good battery/ good GS Regulator (not series).

Testing for my own amusement on GS550E with suspect battery from GSX and an old RR (with sense wire) which was originally on the GS but I took off for a reason i cannot remember.

(I am.looking for thread on here re that RR with sense wire as I remember ages ago I had to ask what the hell it was and made a thread) - I know what it is now !

                    will update

GSX250E: we can say fixed and was the regulator
                      and poss a poor battery.

                      - there is one other issue.
the damned fuel tap. it is a non original and has prime res and on. has vacuum pipe .
it only works on prime ?
on or res does not work ? vacuum pipe connected . petrol doesn't come out when tank off when on or res which is as it should.
but clearly it is not coming out as it should ?
the only thing i can thibk if is the spring in pet tap vacuum side. I think I.list original and used another . wander if too strong too allow vacuum to work?
                      any ideas ?

Jules, in all you wrote, I didn’t see that you actually bought and installed one of those proposed SH775 series-type look-alike RR on either bike. Did I miss something?

The spring in the pet cock needs to be right, strong enough to seal fuel off with no vacuum & weak enough for the bike's vacuum to open it. Put a length of vacuum line to the pet cock & gently suck on the other end & you should be able to feel the valve opening & closing.

                              OK will do.
There is no doubt the wrong spring is in so this looks likely. Issue is I don't have the spring anymore and may have to cut back this one ?
Also this is the tap. which is brill until I lost the spring.

Will do check tomorrow as .....

                              GS550E TEST:
went out with gsx battery , and off my shelf old RR with sense wire that should be OK. all OK so I might be OK on the RR for now but will keep in mind I have unknowns on my GS.
(GSx as we now know is OK with my working GS Rr on)
                              and

The clutch cable snapped. had my emergency one and managed to put in but no cable cutters. had to walk to Halford and clutch cable not easy to cut.
had to adjust my bike toolkit to allow for things like this .

Uhhh, I'm missing something...Not understanding needing to cut "any" clutch cable??? Old was already broke (same as cut), cut the new & it will also be broke.
