    Help with connections

I did do a couple of thread searches and didn’t find anything solid (at least as interpreted by my brain). I have an 82 850g and I am going through the OEM wiring harness. The connector in the headlamp with the infamous stator loop is the issue. Obviously, melted and fused as received by PO. I removed the loop and will connect directly to the r/r further down the loom. I am going to go with spade or heat shrink (waterproof) butt connectors for the remaining connections in this particular bad connector but need some help on which wires to connect to which. I can read the schematic (somewhat) but what about the Y/W and brown(?) /red ? What do I do about those? Why do they feed in to the connector and right back out? Obviously, I have minimal wiring experience. TIA

Man-O-Man! what a mess! That's ugly! Yellow/White stripe is your headlight...brown is your tailight, the grey is your dashlights...the connectorOrange/White is your kill switch and the other is starter button...yes you'll be replacing that...the red mark is going to be the "hot side" of the kill switch by the way..ie "+" before it's switched to go to coils..

The headlight loop is another thing-it's going to go all the way to headlight switch on some bikes OR be "vestigial", I mean "bridged",shorted out" as a factory mod before it gets to the handlebar when most bikes shipped to countries that had Headlight-On! rules...

Diagrams found link below. One? of them is nicely colour-coded which is a big help.

Stator loop...the wires you care about are White/Green stripe,White/Blue stripe, and yellow coming from the stator with female connectors These three connect to the 3 wires (usually yellow) of your new regulator...or Y, W/R, W/Bl of the old one if you are still using it. That's basically all you need know to get rid of the loop. You can ignore the unused loop wires or re-purpose them for some auxiliary.
