    stators (status)

    - stator out ready for return money back from m&p
    - await breakers stator (i gave them a photo of old one for obvious reasons) OR may just order from wemoto who deliver next day.
    - gasket and casing faces cleaned
    - The new RR in (that worked on the gsx)
(kept old regulator and will test with this new setup as may be ok)

so a few days to wait for conclusion.

Heck, I’ll sell you the used 18 pole stator I took out of my bike. It’s got about as much chance of fixing your bike as one you’re gonna get from a breaker.

Good old M&P have agreed to send another stator.
It seems as informed it was changed from one to the other about the time of my bike.....

M&P deserve to be back in the good books.

I can feel the burning desire to do a bike tour over the channel and up to near Amsterdam again now.

Do you guys remember this pic - attached when I broke down in Amsterdam in a field .... and it took a week and this site to fix it ? I then did 5000 miles around Europe in a tent.... Good days.

pic of a typical field garage !!

Post closed . Fixed. As to how I'll leave that to your imagination. Can't be doing with battling with trolls and admin Hoover's on here.

Can't leave this and not inform of final results as this site has saved my life in the past. I owe the site.
This and the GSX problem cracked me !

                Initial issue :
Anyway after simply connecting the RR ground wire to the positive battery terminal and riding one mile I blew the stator up and the 3 stator wire connections to RR burnt out.

The fix was simply a new stator , re do wiring and input on a new RR . I don't think the RR was at fault but a new one is on . I agreed with that early diagnosis but ......

The issue was I was sent the wrong stator ! I ordered before I took it out. one sent had 12 nodes and my one had 18. I never compared them. Never had the time to calmly in a garage do this !
Also I ground the RR to the frame on all bikes now so it never happens again. It only happened as I went away for many months and could not remember where the wire went in my haste to ride .....

All sorted. Seems so simple now !

3 stator wires were never shorted together ! No idea where that came from.
A crazy problem this that cracked me as it was impossible it could not be the stator yet I had two new ones (both the wrong type yet fitted perfectly).

Enough it can't happen to.me again thank the lord.
(Best not read the GSX issue which is ongoing ...)

But bike is back reliable and out and about in the sun.
Hopefully off to Normandy (a bit late) , Somme and onto Amsterdam soon with a tent again.
