    1979 GS1000 S lock switch ?

I'm restoring a 79 1000 S and about to get into the instrument cluster. It has a toggle switch I've never seen before , looks factory as it mounts on fairing bracket. I think wiring diagram calls it a lock switch. It's #38 on a parts fiche but descriptions only go to 31. Is this some kind of anti theft ign. cutoff or what's it for ? Any helpful hints would be appreciated on trying to clean this unit up. Rubber indicator light sockets seem to be stuck in there pretty good after 45 years. The second one I tried started to tear a little so I stopped and tried to get a little silicone spray to see if that loosens them up any. Are replacement stick on dial faces worth it or is OEM better, they don't look that bad

Thinking you're describing the switch to turn the clock off during storage.

Thanks, That sounds right. I've had a few GS's but none with a clock

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
