79 GS Fuel Gauge

My 79 Gauge seems to "kind of" work. When the tank, is about empty it needle shoots to about 1/4 to 1/4 tank.

I am fairly mechanically minded, but I figured I would ask before I go poking around because someone here might already have an answer. Thanks mates, Aaron
