81 GS850L #2 cylinder still runs cold
Repairs thus far: Carbs re-built, new intake boots, new petcock, new plugs. All three other cylinder get hot right away except #2. Plug pulled reveals a little bit of a gassy smell and looks alittle blac (not as bad as before). I notice when i lay a firing indicator pen on the wires that # 2 is weaker looking. Could one side of the coil go out and not the other. I'm also thinking maybe a partially cracked spark plug wire? BTW, the bike fires right up. Any recommendation on coil replacement? Thoughts? Thanks in advance.Tags: None

Hi,
Could be wires, could be a faulty plug cap. Plugs caps are cheap to replace. It could be that you just need to remove your plug cap, trim the wire back 1/4", and screw the plug cap back into fresh wire. Look for any worn spots on the spark plug wire that could be shorting to ground. Running your bike in a dark garage will sometimes reveal sparks where they shouldn't be.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff
