Wiring New Gauge Set - Koso Gauges

I guess I could probably get there eventually but a lot of you guys are much better at electrickery than me..!

If anyone's bored I'd appreciate a hand working this out.

I know I have one or two polarity issues that may not work out as well as I planned too

This is going on the 83GS750ES.

    So:

    Koso Instructions:

    GS Schematic:

I think these should work ok:

I was hoping to use the Hazard light as a side stand light (not critical) but polarity seems to be wrong to do that.

I think the Fuel & Oil temp should plug right in. Looks like Fuel I can get to read right but the oil temp is anyones guess... anyway I can test the one they gave me? I'm guess that I put it in a pan of water & measure the Ohm's as it gets hot - best way I can think of.

So far I have: (Koso Left & GS Right)

    Brown - switched +ve
    Black - Ground
    Red - Non-switched +ve

    Orange (L Flasher) - Black
Green (Low beam) - need to run from headlight bucket or ignore
    Yellow (High Beam) - yellow
    Light Blue (Neutral) - Blue
Dark Green (Fuel) - Yellow / Brown
Blue (R Flasher) - Light Green
Gray (Oil pressure) - Green / Yellow (Looks like this one can be a + or - input to the Koso)
Purple (Water Temp) - Ignore or Pink? (I can also use Accessory 4 which has separate wiring from this purple one so unsure which to use here...)
Dark Purple (Hazard) - Ignore but I would actually like to use this for a side stand switch if poss. Green/White is -ve though & this light needs a +ve.

Tach can use +ve or -ve setting so I will attach that to Black Yellow (but unsure if that is + or - need to look at the main loom schematic to see if I can trace it)

Thanks in advance for any help... Now I've actually sat down & studied it I'm not so wary of it... looks like more will work directly than I thought.

      Full Schematic:

The Black/Yellow - who can tell me from this whether it is + or -?

Thinking about the side stand switch - I guess I could use the -ve wire to switch a relay & then switch a +ve for the light on the new gauge set - any better ideas out there? (I may just run a separate Light).

      Thanks!

Just glancing at this..But your pink wire is from the oil temp gauge.. the gauge in the new set is still just a thermometer..doesnt care whether its oil or water, so it SHOULD work fine I would think?

Yes, I think I could probably wire it up either way as the gauge can handle both water & Oil temps.

The purple will likely be easier to wire up in the first instance so I might try that first & see how well it works out... I'm not that upset if I don't even have the oil temp registering in all honesty.

Do you have the speedo and tach working yet? I was looking at these gauges and just really care about speedo tach, (neutral, turn signals, and oil light would also be a positive). I am kind of scared now after you mentioning it has posed a problem.

Not yet but it looks like those bits are all relatively straight forward...

Only thing you'll definitely have to watch out for is electrical interference on the tach....

Salty, do you need an led relay to run these koso gauges. I asked my gf for the Koso DB gauge for my birthday and want it to work out of the box. Is there anything I need to do to prep the bike for the gauge? Thanks. How is your gauge treating you?

It's treating me fine from it's box on the workbench!!!

Don't know about the relay, assume you mean flasher but i have electronic type anyway.

with the ignition on you should have power at one wire all the time,

the other wire will be the one switching.

IT'S not on your bike?!?!? What problems did you have? Should I get the db gauge. All I really want is a speedo and maybe idiot lights. That's why I am going with the db

3 bikes to work on and a trip to China aren't conducive to getting it done!
I would think that black yellow must be +
I don't think it will to connect it up and change settings on the gauges till it reads right.
