    starter solenoid problem

So riddle me this GS'ers so yesterday my project bike (81 gs750E) turns over just fine. today i go and put the carbs in and press the starter button and nothing... so i check the battery cause I took it out between trys and its all good to my knowledge, then i jumped the starter and it works. then i jumped the solenoid and it worked. turned the bike over that is. then I use my multimeter and used the battery as a test to make sure i had the meter right and i got 12.1 volts so thats good then i tested the solenoid and that was 12v then i tried the starter not knowing if it is possible to get a reading from it or not and got nothing.

Then when I got it to turn over by jumping the starter it wouldnt start(i dont know if starting the bike this way is possible to do or not) so i taped the clutch lever down cause the bikes in gear and my side cover is off so no shifter. then I c clamped the start button down so it could run other systems then tried again and it wouldnt start. carbs have gas in them. I may be doing a lot of dumb things here but im no good with electronics...hehe i know im 1 in 1000000

    Thank you
    Jake

      Hi,

Nice work! Sometimes the troubleshooting procedure is a process of elimination. Usually my process is a lot longer.

Glad you found the problem. These bikes really do love clean connections all over, don't they?

      Thank you for your indulgence,
