    part two:electrical problem@ start-up 82gs1100e

this is a puzzling dilema. when i first start the bike, it will idle for a minute or so then die. sometimes it will start back up right away, other times if i re-insert the key a few times and turn it on and off. this can happen four or five times. once it gets over this scenario it runs fine. but if i turn it off the same routine starts. is it ignition switch, igniter, or ?

well the ? turned out to be the dyna rev limiter hooked up to the coils. it was bad.
best part the repair cost nothing, zero, danada, and i'm finally riding this animal.

    Hi,

Sure, I'd start with the easy stuff and take a really close look at the ignition switch and its connections. There's also an ignition troubleshooting article by Mr. Matchless on my website. (Thanks Andre!)

    Thank you for your indulgence,

When electronics fail they can go through an intermediate period of intermittent operation. This is mainly for circuit cards not mechanical switches. The only thing that this would apply to is the ignitor.

Let it run, let it quite then crank the engine and see if it is still sparking. If not you know your answer.
