I am picking up a 85 gs the bike runs drives and shifts great. But the only thing wrong with it is that the lights don't work. I am a mechanic so no problem getting dirty. But I no nothing on how a bikes electrical system works. And hoping maybe some had this problem. And knows what I should xlook for thanks a lot guys.

    Bulbs, fuses, relays, wiring.

Get a wiring diagram to begin with.

    Which model of GS?

        Welcome !!!

Where are you on this big blue marble we call home ? Someone may be close to help out.

Which light don't work, all of them ? Go here and scroll down a little to The Stator Papers, it help explain the electrical system on these bikes.

Is it just one light or all of them?
If it's just one light, replace that light.
If it's all of them, it could be the fuse.
I think even the 450 has the five-fuse panel.
The end fuse is for lights.

Without a wiring diagram, go through all the connectors. If you see any that look burnt, start there. These guys seem to like to burn the connectors from the stator, but just going through and cleaning the ones that don't look quite right and replacing the obviously burnt connectors can clean up a whole lot of problems. Welcome to the site. Since I've gotten mine up and running, my RX8 sits in the driveway keeping the neighborhood cats company.
