What size cable do i need to use?

My 550 has the single fuse setup for the electrical system and I am rewiring it with a 6 fuse setup for the various circuits. I am replacing the red wire from the fuse to the ignition switch and the orange wire from the ignition switch back to the fuse.

I do not know what size cable to use as in Australia we do not have the AWG marked on the cable spools. The only markings are the mm2 and the AMPS.

Because both of these wires feed three other circuits via fuses and could be carrying quite a currect load (lights, ignition, etc) I was wondering what size cable to use. I have another wiring loom off a GSX600R and the wiring on it seems to be somewhat heavier in size.

I have a couple of spools that are marked 1.85 square mm and 15 AMP. Do I need to use wire of this size or would 10 AMP wire be sufficient?

What are your thoughts, what size cable should I use?

    Thanks in anticipation.

Since those wires carry ALL the current the bike will be using, I would go with the 15 amp wire.

Better to go larger than smaller, unless physical space becomes a problem.

Another quick question. What are the maximum watts or amps that would be drawing on the electrical system for a standard '77 GS550, no extra accessories or anything like that, no driving or fog lamps. Just normal head lights, tail light, ignition, blinkers, etc.

      Thanks.
