    HELP! Speedo Cable Guides GS1000SZ

    I almost have my 82 katana together but I am stuck. Where do the two speedo cable guides attach to the frame?

        The upper looks like #1 and the lower looks similar to #2 but is different. See the attached pics from my ED .

        You should look in the manual ; it shows all of the cable routing. There were apparenly head tub guides on both side for the Kat 1000SZ and 1100SD. The #1 seem to be consistent though for the clutch cable. You should double check the manual, the Kats have some different routing according to the manual.

          The manual shows them both as related to the speedo cable. (#26 & #29). The Katana shop manual for cable routing doesn't show the speedo cable. Still stuck!!!!

            The #26 attaches to the fork leg, not sure about the other.

              One goes on the left hand side of the lower triple;

              The other one goes at the bottom of the left hand fork;

                Thank you! Your Katana pictures were a big help on some other questions I had. May I ask you one more question? Where should the battery ground attach?

                  There is a ground from the harness that bolts to the square cross beam directly in front of the battery. The main ground is bolted directly into the top of the engine cases - below the carbs on the RH side almost directly under the path of the clutch cable. I can't really get you any good pictures of this area because of the carb blanket/difuser. This one isn't too good either, but you can make out the harness ground along with the main ground cable;

                    Sorry to be so dense. Can you circle the two attachment points on your picture? FYI your photo album was very helpful. Thanks.

                      battery negative goes to one of the right side, upper rear, crankcase bolts in the flatish section .... doesn't matter which one but make sure there is no paint under it.... this is the same place for most of the large 11's

                        Battery ground goes to second case bolt from rear, almost directly under clutch cable. I got this info from Ray, and then found it in the manual as well. I just did mine yesterday.

                        Did you find a exhaust (stock) pipe yet?
