I jumpered the 4 pin plug, so when I push the Turn Signal Switch left or right, I get the turn signals to come on solid as long as I hold the switch left or right. When I let it go, the signals go out. That was the easy part.
What I do not understand, is how to get the relay attached to the circuit so it will flash the signals. I want to use the existing turn signal switch. I found the light blue relay control wire, in the 6 pin connector, I also found the Brown/yellow wire in the same connector, but of course when I connect them together, the turn signals don't work. After reading several posts, I am assuming I have to change a connection up on the spring loaded turn signal switch, if I am going to make this work.
I took the switch off the handlebars, and it does not appear to be very user friendly as far as getting into it. Has anyone modified one of these switches? If so how did you do it? There was a post by Big Al, I believe, and he stated he used double relays, and took the spring out of the switch. Big Al, if you are out there reading this, what was your secret, man?
Can the switch be modified by altering wires out on the harness itself, rather than taking a chance on screwing up the switch? There was talk of connecting an orange/yellow or brown/yellow wire with an orange one up at the switch itself to make the switch work. Something about connecting the cancel part of the switch (where you push the lever down to shut em off, I think this was the brown/yellow wire) with the orange wire on the center terminal of the switch or something to this effect. Can this connection be made out in the harness?
If I need to use double relays in order to make the switch work, that is not a problem either, just have to know how to do it. This is probably the hardest workaround I have encountered yet on this bike.
Thanks for any and all replies, I gotta believe someone out there has been able to make this work.
I must have read 30 posts about this subject, and still got no clear answer on how to modify this thing. I have looked at the colored wiring diagrams, but for some reason I might as well be reading Chinese, they don't make much sense to me.
Thanks, again for any help with this.
