Ironically this happened at a bike shop I was going to use to fine tune my carburation. (Specialist in older machinery) He told me he was too busy and that i should charge up, pull the headlight fuse, and come back next week...his lack of concern was amusing. lol.

R/R quick question
I havent been on here in quite a while. (This means my bike is working properly....HAHA) I was wondering if the general consensus is still a member named Duange or something similar has the best bang for buck in regulators? I stopped today and my bike didnt want to restart...the stator is blowing out 80 volts so regulator is quite suspect...Ill do full stator paper inspection and check cleanliness of connections tomorrow. ugh.

As far as I know, Duaneage is still selling R/Rs, but send him a PM to verify.
You were going to a shop to have them fine-tune your carbs? Why?
Given his apparent attitude, I seriously hope you are re-thinking that.
Did you get a chance to ask how much they would charge for that?
Keep in mind that you can make adjustments for free, new jets (if necessary are only a few dollars each (you will have to buy in lots of 4)
and a GOOD manometer will only run you less than $90. Compare that to their offer.

Thanks for the info. I will send him a message momentarily.
Well, I rebooted my airbox and the plugs are now black (less air leaking/airflow i guess) and the bike is coughing in deceleration, so i figure the mix is slightly off.
Ive used this guy before hes the best in Chattanooga for old bikes. Hes just really old school and has been slammed all summer apparently. His suggestion to charge, pull, and ride got me home, so I figure hes probably been in a similar situation before.
I only use his services when I'm stumped and frustrated, and he quickly resolves my bike and frustration issues. I had a really annoying clutch problem, and i tried everything i knew to do. I eventually trailored him the bike and about two hours later he called me and informed me that the clutch cover was bent slightly, thus causing the clutch not to be pulled straight out, causing the difficulty shifting. He heated it, hammered it, and put it back on and everything is beautiful. This cost me a whopping 60$. Money well spent in my book.
My bike projects usually start with lots of ambition on my part, lots of of sweat and frustration, and about 95% of the project done. Then I hit then inevitable roadblock and take it to my guy and he sets me straight.
I also just want him to look all my winters work over just make sure i didn't do anything retarded.
This includes:
Full brake system rebuild...EVERYTHING is new
Coil relay mod
New plug wires and boots
New airbox boots
New Led turn signal system
probably more i forgot about....

OK, sounds like you have lucked into a decent shop there.
Too many times a classic bike is taken to a "modern" shop where it is ruined beyond all hope of being rescued.
It is probably with all good intentions, but let's face it, these bikes were already old when most of today's "technicians" were born.

Too bad hes 20 miles from my house. Theres another small, private shop close to my house but the guy wont touch anything old. Neither will the dealerships in the area.
