Where does the relay for the LEDs go?

I am looking at all the wiring diagrams for my 83 1100E and I cannot find where the new relay for the LED turn signals is supposed to be on the bike. Can anyone help me with this? I know it seems silly but I can't keep staring at the bike. I am looking under the left (driver) side cover and I see everything there but no relay. Please help me!

The turn signal flasher is usually under the right side cover.

Not sure I would call it a "relay", though.

LEDs: Still not clear about where the "flasher" unit is located????

I took off the right and left side covers on the 83 GS 1100E and I am still trying to figure out where the new LED flasher unit goes. I see several possible things but the new unit is small and black and has only 2 wires and everything else on the bike has at least 6. Am I supposed to just take a couple of wires off of one or what? I am struggling. I have the wiring diagrams but I still cannot see what I am replacing. Can anyone help? Please? Thanks in advance. I appreciate anything.

          Hi,

Check out the turn signal relay (flasher) replacement guide on my website to get familiar with what's what. To use that part you have, you'll have to modify your wiring a little, change connectors, to fit it to your system. Instead, you may want to pick up a little 2-prong "can" flasher (FL-522 or 552) to fit into the existing socket.

If your bike is like mine, under the right side cover ("right" as you are sitting on the bike) you'll see two black boxes. The one on the left is the flasher unit, the one on the right is the control unit. Replace the one on the left. Please check your manual to be sure. There should be a page that identifies all the component locations, in addition to the wiring diagram.

          Thank you for your indulgence,

          BassCliff

Are you asking where to actually put the flasher on the bike itself and not where to connect the wires? If so, make a spot. I ended up attaching my new relay to the rear wheel guard with a set of self tapping screws and a small bracket I bought at lowes.
