82 Kat - frnt turn signal wiring - Help

Putting my restored Kat back together. I have a puzzle.

The front turnsignals have two wires coming out of the stalk - black, and black w/ white

The parts diagram shows a wire (earth) attached to a washer behind the nut. I don't seem to have these wires

The wiring diagram shows three wires from each signal -
Right - Lt green, Black w/white (ground), and Lt gray (ignition switch)
Left - Black, Black w/white (ground), and Lt gray (ignition switch)
And a brown wire that goes nowhere

    The female wires at the headlight are as follows;
    lt green - (R)
    Black - (L)
    (2) Black with white - (R & L)
    (2) Lt Gray - ???
    Black with white - ???
    Brown - (unused)

    1. Does the Lt Gray double female go to the earth wire behind each nut?
    2. Is the extra Black with white the ground for the unused Brown wire?

I'm guessing that you would need 3 wires for a front light because it is both a running light and turn signal. Does the bulb have 2 filaments ? There is a chance that these are not the original lights and would have been from the rear of another bike making them just turn signals.
Do you have a volt meter ? From what you describe the lt grey wires on the bike would be the running lights and would show 12 volts with the key on. The Lt green wire would be for the turn signal. Unless the stalk is ground you are 1 wire short which makes me think those are not original.
    Good luck

They look like the parts diagram and the bike only had 8900 miles on it. Should I just ignore the gray wires and skip marker lights? Here are pictures of the turn signals.

Although my 850 doesn't have running lights, my hook up is green wire is for turn signal and black wire same for other side. Two blk/wh. wires should be ground and try hooking those up to the blk/wh. wire coming out of headlight. Not sure about gry wires. Brown wire in headlight is usually so you can hook up running lights if you want. Hope this helps. terrylee
