I haven't received my replacement R/R from Duaneage yet but I will have it by this weekend.
Upon reading the stator papers and topics on my particular model, I just want to make sure that I have the wiring correct.
From the stator, I have a white/blue wire, a white/green wire, and a yellow wire. The white/blue and yellow split off and I know to just use one connection of each.
I hook up the 1 white/blue wire, 1 yellow wire, and the white/green wire to the replacement R/R that I am about to receive.
Now, here's where I want to make sure that I don't mess up. I have an aftermarket lhs handlebar control unit and I have a white/red wire, a white/green wire and a gray wire (which is traced back to the speedometer). All 3 wires are presently not hooked up to anything.
From what I read, I can pull the white/red wire out of the equation completely as it will no longer serve any purpose once I get rid of the individual rectifier.
One post I read states that the white/green can be disconnected from the handlebar control unit harness and can be connected to one of the yellow wires from the new R/R. Do I really need to do that or can I simply remove the white green wire out of the equation and just have the white/green from the stator hooked up to 1 of the yellows from the new R/R? Seems redundant to hookup the white/green wire twice if it's not hooked up to anything else anyway.
According to the wiring diagram, it appears that the gray completes the circuit for my gauge lights. I'm guessing that because right now, I do not have any gauge lights but when I touch the gray wire to the positive orange wire, I have gauge lights. If someone know if that will fry my wires, please let me know before this weekend when I go clean up the wiring.
I'm just looking for confirmation on my wiring before I dive into it this weekend. I'd rather know exactly what wires go where and which wires I can eliminate to clean up this hacked wiring harness.
