do 1000 & 1100 katana use the same stator & rectifier

Can anyone tell me if the 83 GS1100SD Katana uses the same stator & rectifier as the 81-83 1000 Katanas , or what it does use ?

No. The '83 Katana uses the same components as the standard GS1100E & ES.

This is a good site so you can compare part numbers. http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm

Also different about the Katana Crank is the generator rotor. Suzuki put the Gs750 rotor onto the Gs1000s and Gs1100s motors. This carried through to 1983 and the Gs1100sd as well. The point is, stator covers are not interchangeable between the Gs1100e and the Gs1100s engines. In a pinch you can get your big Kat running with a 750 stator cover but it too is a little different, but fits. This from Suzukikatana.com is why I ask

According to the parts manual they are not the same as the regular 1100's the stator and generator are different part numbers between the Es and the katana. The rectifier regulator is the same. They dont seem to be the same as the E model 750s either.
