    wiring stator direct to r/r?

Hey guys---need some more clarification, think i get it but wanna make sure. attached is the wiring schematic for my bike----

---- i see that one leg of the stator (white/green wire) runs up to a junction block near the RH handlebar switches in the picture----

--- Question #1 is this the loop through the headlight switch everyone is talking about? because it doesnt appear to go through the headlight wiring in any way--it goes through that block and turns onto a (white/red wire) and then comes back to the reg/rec.

----Question #2 If I cut that (white/green) to run direct to R/R do i ground each end of the (Red/White) to the frame or just tape the ends off and not worry because it doesnt seem to then go anywhere except through that junction block, also the block seems to be wired to the r/h handlebar switches--just wondering? thanks in advance

Yes it is and all I did was connect the two together and tape it off.

Yes that is what everyone is talking about. Personally I would solder the stator wires to the reg. Make sure the reg has a good ground!!!

You really can't go by that diagram to locate the connectors.

Although it is shown somewhere near the right handlbar switch, that connector where the stator wire loops back is under the fuel tank, right near the coils.
          (At least, that's where it is on my wife's '82 850L. )

When you bypass that extra length of wire, there is no real need to do anything with the wires that are hanging out of the main harness.
Since both ends are right there, and un-connected, there is no danger of them shorting out on anything.

Some people advocate soldering those connections from the stator to the r/r, others will simply suggest new, clean, tight connectors.
          Personally, I prefer connectors.
