Hmmm that's something I couldn't help you on I'm afraid, I'm not that much of an electrical guru to know what would suit and what wouldn't.

I guess it's possible a later 400/450 with electronic ignition could be a go but not sure... if it physically fitted though I'm sure there'd be other stuff to go with it...

Anyone else have any ideas here?

Actually, I stumbled across something in another thread... apparently there's such a thing to replace your points called a Dyna S.

I'm not sure if this is only for the bigger 4 cylinders or not though, but might be worth a shot.

You may find that some other models that use points have the same part.

Good call Matchless, forgot the other trick!

From Bike Bandit's search, the same unit fits the following:

          1977 Suzuki GS400BView schematics
          1977 Suzuki GS400XBView schematics
          1978 Suzuki GS400CView schematics
          1978 Suzuki GS400XCView schematics
          1979 Suzuki GS425ENView schematics
          1979 Suzuki GS425LNView schematics
          1979 Suzuki GS425NView schematics

Not sure if that will make it any easier or not.

I found the Dyna S details too but I think you may want to find your replacement part first

Yeah, look on ebay for replacement- your part would chew thru contact points.( For your info- the wires actually ground out on the plate that they are mounted on). Probably better to look into Dyna and kiss points goodby!

Thanks boys! The 550 one on ebay looks just like mine but its a different part number. I have been searching around for the models listed, but I'm coming up empty handed.

And holy crap, that dyna is pretty f'n pricey!

Try looking around for a NOS dealer somewhere over there, you might luck out.
