    Upgrading the electrical

Hello again. I have a 1983 gs 750t with almost stock wiring. I have added a stator from eletrosports, new plugs and caps. an LED rear brake bulb, and have done the relay coil mod. I'm in the process of restoring most of it right now. While I'm working on the bike I want to restore the health of my charging system and do everything I can to make it better. The electrical right now is fine.

My question is what basic mods, trick, setups would really improve the bikes electrical that is not talked about on bikecliffs website articles?

(Examples would be "moving this wire to here" or "definably change out this wire.") Thanks!

    Hi,

Definitely connect the ground wire from the r/r unit directly to the negative terminal of the battery. Check and clean EVERY connection on the entire wiring harness, fuse box, ignition switch, solenoid, turn signal stalks, grounds, etc. Replace critical bullet connectors for spade connectors and use dielectric grease to protect them. See Mr. posplayr's article GS Charging System Health for more tips.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

      - Add your own ground wire from the point where R/R is "grounded" at the solenoid mounting and run it to the battery negitive. This is so not relying on all the connections/splices of the black/white wire in the wiring harness.

      - Improve connections between the stator and the R/R

More specifics of both of these are in BassCliff and other places.

Replace the stock RR with a Honda Kit I offer, best insurance policy for it to prevent electrical failures
1981 GS650G , all the bike you need
1980 GS1000G Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely

Actually, BassCliff has done a WONDERFUL job of gathering most of the collective wisdom on the forum.

There is probably very little out there that won't be found on his site.

I think a "silver plater" is conspicuously absent from Cliff's site

Great replies guys, thanks. I realized that as I was going through BC's website that he covered 90% of the tips and tricks. If anyone has anymore feel free to add. Thanks!
