    04 GS500 starter problem

So I was having some issues with my bike dying. It seemed to be a battery issue, so I bought a new one, and it rode for a few days, then it died again. I had no clue it might've been the common fuel starvation issue that GS500s have, but when I switched to RES, it seemed to have resolved the issue once and for all. I didn't really care, either. It just meant I had to watch my mileage.

So it was fine for about two weeks, till' one day, when I got off work, I tried starting up my bike, and at first, indicator and headlights came on just fine, but as soon as I hit the starter it clicks, dies, and then nothing. I turn the ignition, and no lights, nothing. Couldn't bump start her, either. I inspected all the wiring, checking for loose cables, and every once in a while, the lights will come on like she would start up, but when I hit the starter, she dies again.

Any ideas what it might be?

That is the sign of weak battery. You need to charge the battery and immediately run through the stator papers. You charging system is most likely caput, and you need to go through the entire wiring system seaching for melted wires and connectors. And a multimeter is essential, of course.
    Best of luck.

on an 05, get over to GStwins. it sounds like you have the flywheel problem, or your battery is cooked.

You can take the battery to an auto parts to have it tested. Takes a couple of minutes IIRC.
