    Coil relay modification

I would like to do this Mod. On my 1980GS1000. But I by passed the kill switch its always on run. I also installed a heavy duty start button right off the starter relay. My handle bar switches were junk. Can I still do the Modification?

Can't imagine why you would want to bypass a kill switch, but, yes, you can do the modification.

Remove the wire that powers the coils (not the wires that go to the ignitor). Connect that to pin #86 of the relay. Connect #85 to ground. Connect #30 to the battery (through a fuse, of course). Connect #87 to the coils where you removed the power wire.

Regardless of what else has been stripped off the bike, you still have ignition, that's where the mod comes in.
