Can disconnected neutral wire cause starting issue?

Hello all,
I'm still trying to start my 83 GS750ES after the winter lay-up and found that the blue wire that connects the neutral light was very loose, not making contact actually. It's about mid-way down the bike, under the tank.
Would that wire being disconnected prevent the bike front starting?
It's still so cold and snowy up here in the Frozen North that I haven't had a chance to get the bike out of the garage and try to start it.
There is also an orange wire next to the blue neutral light wire that was also loose and somewhat corroded with age. So I cleaned them both and tightened up their plugs. Now very snug.
I'm hoping these were causing my starting issues but really, not being very electrically adept, I have no idea.
Any comments or ideas would be most welcome.

The neutral wire won't cause the bike to not start. Orange wires are for power so that one may be more meaningful.
